What's happening in Team South this week?
What a busy time of year it is! This week Team South have been looking at the 'sh' phoneme during literacy stations time. One of our activities was to build a ship. We then got to test the ship in the school pool. We had so much fun!
Invitations for Grandparents day went out this week and we have been practising our Grandparents Day song. We are getting really good at it now and we even did it without the words! We are so excited about Grandparents day.
We are also busy training for athletics. We will be doing Jelly Put, Long Jump and Sprints on athletics day. Our goal in sprints is to look straight ahead and run in a straight line! We are looking forward to competing against Sefton School on athletics day.
We are missing our buddies this week. They are on camp on the West Coast. We can't wait to catch up with them next week.

Grandparents Day
Grandparents day is fast approaching and we are busy learning poems, songs and dances to share with our grandparents. We are learning a beautiful Grandparents Song. We would love it if the children could practice the song at home so that we know the words off by heart. Here is the link for the song Grandparents Song.
Grandparent day invitations will be sent out this week so please make sure your forms are returned asap and we have the name and address of the Grandparent/Grandfriend that the children are inviting. Thank you.

Writing about our grandparents
Today in Team South, some of the groups wrote about their grandparents. They were asked to talk about what they like about their grandparents and what they do with them. Here is a small selection.
My granddad is big. He always gives me fruit bursts.

My nana is cuddly and she is nice to love.

My nana is fire nana. She is coming to Grandparent's Day. I get heaps of toys from her. My nana lives by me. I sleep with her on Friday night. I play on her iPad. I love my nan.

My granddad is a fireman. He quit because he is too old. He is 76 now. That is incredible!!! I go swimming at Dudley pool with granddad. Tonight my sister is going to St. Johns. I'm going to my grandma and granddad's until 7.30pm.

My granddad is a really nice man. He likes shooting. He makes really nice nuggets and chips and I go there a lot. They used to have three quadbikes but now they have two quadbikes. Sometimes we go to the beach. We also go shooting together. We have lots of fun!

My granny and granddad are fun, cute and cuddly. When we go to their house they play with me. They give me ice cream after tea time. It is yummy! They tuck me in and give me a kiss and a hug.

My granddad and granny are special to me because they take me to Motunau to go fishing. I get some blue cod and salmon.

Pet Day 2015
What a fantastic day we had for Pet Day this year. For a number of children (and parents) in Team South, it was their very first Loburn School Pet Day. The children created some amazing items and the teachers were all so impressed with all the children's work. Congratulations to everyone who got certificates and well done Team South for being so creative!
